Are You Planning on Getting Married at Cripps Barn?

If so — congratulations. You’ve chosen one of the most iconic barn wedding venues in Gloucestershire.

Set in the Cotswolds countryside near Cirencester, Cripps Barn is built from honey-coloured Cotswold stone and designed with warmth and simplicity in mind. The courtyard, the open fireplaces, the relaxed layout — it all creates a setting that feels timeless, welcoming and effortlessly easy to enjoy.

As the original Cripps & Co venue, Cripps Barn prioritises people, flow and experience. Weddings here feel genuine rather than staged, which makes it perfect for relaxed, documentary wedding photography.

As a Cripps Barn wedding photographer covering the Cotswolds and wider Gloucestershire area, I approach the day in a way that keeps things natural and unobtrusive.

A Relaxed, Documentary Wedding at Cripps Barn

While photography is important, it’s only one part of your wedding day. What really matters is celebrating properly — bringing two families together and actually spending time with the people who’ve travelled to be there.

My approach at Cripps Barn is documentary-led. I capture the fun, emotion and atmosphere as it unfolds, working quietly in the background. I won’t pull you away for hours of posed photos or make you miss your drinks reception. Your wedding day isn’t a photoshoot — it’s a celebration.

And the best photographs are always the natural ones.

Is It Possible to Do Group Photos Without Stopping the Day?

Of course. While around 90% of the day is candid storytelling, I’m always happy to photograph family and friend group shots.

The key is keeping them efficient and relaxed. Around 8–10 group photos is usually ideal — enough to cover the important people without interrupting the flow of your Cripps Barn wedding.

A Collection of Real Cripps Barn Weddings

This isn’t about one perfectly curated wedding. It’s a collection of real weddings at Cripps Barn across different seasons in the Cotswolds — each shaped by the people, the atmosphere and the energy they bring.

Cripps Barn Wedding Photography FAQs

How many guests can Cripps Barn accommodate?

Cripps Barn can host up to around 150 guests for a wedding ceremony and reception. The main barn space feels full and lively without being cramped, and the courtyard works beautifully for drinks receptions in the warmer months.

Is Cripps Barn good for winter weddings?

Yes — genuinely one of the best Cotswolds barn venues for winter weddings. The open fireplaces, candlelight and Cotswold stone create a warm, atmospheric setting that photographs beautifully. As a Cotswolds wedding photographer, winter light at Cripps Barn is actually one of my favourites.

Where are the best photo spots at Cripps Barn?

The stone courtyard is perfect for relaxed drinks reception moments. The barn doors create beautiful natural light for candid photos. And just outside the venue, the surrounding Cotswolds countryside gives us soft, open backdrops for a few natural couple portraits — without disappearing for half an hour.

Do you need to leave Cripps Barn for couple photos?

Not at all. Everything you need is on-site. I usually suggest a short 10–15 minute wander during golden hour, keeping it relaxed and quick so you’re not missing the party.

Do you cover other Cripps & Co venues?

Yes — alongside Cripps Barn near Cirencester, I also photograph weddings at other Cripps & Co venues across the Cotswolds and surrounding counties.
